There are several Queensland towns with Tamborine in their name. Mout Tamborine, North Tamborine and my destination, plain and simple, Tamborine.
The photo above is one of the main junctions into the township with the stores. The rest of the village consists of a number of well spaced properties surrounded by woodland and pastures.
Unfortunately my research has failed to reveal any particularly exciting snippets of information about Tamborine other than a 47-year-old woman being airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital with extensive injuries after a horse fell on her at Tamborine on 4 January 2009.

someone needs to find a multi million year of skeleton of a male predecessor to the human species so they can name it Tamborine man! (I’m sure it needs a U.)
